Job Description

Avery Dennison is looking for an Application Specialist for our Digital Ink Solutions business to become the technical lead for our digital printing platforms focused on ink-jet inks including general printing monitoring of printer performance. This role will independently tests ink products for market segments served by digital ink products. Products include formulated inks and media. To be successful, you must possess and promote an understanding of product design-performance, including printing, print-heads, wave-forms, etc. The role is based in Belmont, NH and will work under the mentorship of our Technical Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Help in the verification, analysis and troubleshooting inks including jetting, chemical compatibility, drying, fastness, substrate compatibility, print-head compatibility, curing, etc.

  • Image quality analysis.

  • Improve the reliability of inks by resolving the interaction with ink-jet print-heads, curing and mechanics of the printer.

  • Be the main contact with the customer with regards to printing, color and printing performance. Improve printing quality and output including printer set up, maintenance and calibration. Lead multiple product development projects.

  • Partner with customers to develop approach and action plan, and run plan to completion.

  • Short-term troubleshooting to address customer complaints.

  • Work closely with commercial teams in the design and development of new products, including VOC analysis, CTQ-mapping and cost-benefit analysis.

  • Utilize Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) tools and methodologies and follow the stage gate process in product development projects.

  • Follow all corporate safety policies and procedures. Practice good housekeeping and accurate safety procedures in accordance to company standards.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering or related field.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in inks, topcoats, or printing industry.

  • Basic knowledge of pigment and/or dye formulations used in the design of inks would be an added advantage.

  • Experience with digital ink-jet printing.

  • Experience with related equipment such as laminators, electronic plotters and cutters is preferred.

  • This role requires 10% to 15% travel.
