Job Description

We are looking for a Night Shift Team Manager, where you will maintain and improve the safety, quality, service, cost and culture on the night shift as well as provide leadership to finishing operations by supervising day-to-day production and performance of multiple direct reports. The position requires good communication skills with a diverse workforce and other members of the production leadership team, the ability to prioritize work, a sense of urgency to solve problems, and the ability to make timely and effective decisions to resolve any issues that prevent the company from meeting its goals and objectives.

This role is located in Painesville Ohio, reporting to the Coating Operations Manager - Performance Tapes. Being skilled as a dynamic team player with Lean Manufacturing experience and the ability to rally and empower people will be strongly preferred. This role will work on a 12 hour program from 10:00 pm to 10:00 am.

Essential Duties:

  1. Manage Employee Performance And Development
  • Conduct performance reviews with employees and set development and training plans

  • Documenting and conducting disciplinary action

  • Ensure employees have necessary skills and schedule training as necessary to fill gaps

  • Establish succession plans for key roles within the shift

  • Monitor attendance records, vacation schedules and payroll

  • Ensure consistent application of policies

  • Participate in employee selection and hiring

  1. Drive Continuous Improvement
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities

  • Communicate and implement Corrective Actions resulting from customer complaints and internally identified opportunities

  • Identify opportunities to optimize allocation of resources and labor

  • Communicate cross functionally and with other shifts to maintain optimum safety, productivity and quality

  • Lead Kaizen events and support 5S initiatives

  • As member of the manufacturing leadership team: develop, track and improve department metrics

  • Coordinate and manage Compounding supplies through ordering and inventory management

  1. Provide Direction During The Shift
  • Minimum of 50% of the shift spent on the manufacturing floor

  • Development and deployment of the Compounding schedule

  • Coordinate activities of the unloading of raw materials

  • Assign operators to machines, handle break schedule

  • Resolve conflicts and issues that arise to include but not limited to production, staffing, and quality; allocate resources as necessary

  • Oversee and direct the troubleshooting of a variety of technical problems with assistance from tooling, maintenance, distribution and other functional areas as needed

  • Provide leadership in times of emergency, evacuation or employee injuries

Qualifications

Required:

  • 6+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Able to work 12 hour program and on weekends.

  • Have the ability to work with people to achieve objectives and build a teamwork atmosphere.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and effectively problem-solve issues and implement solutions to prevent recurring problems

  • Demonstrated leadership skills: ability to achieve operational results through delegation and teamwork while gaining / maintaining respect from all levels of the organization.

  • Effective communication skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor Degree

  • Experience supervising in a manufacturing operation including safety, performance management, coaching, training and development, timekeeping/payroll issues and mentoring, etc.

  • Experience within manufacturing, ISO 9000, TS 16949, Lean or Six Sigma

  • Demonstrated record of successfully implementing and sustaining improvement actions on the production floor.

  • Demonstrated effective project management skills.
