Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join the Performance Tapes organization in North America (PT-NA). The Procurement Specialist is responsible for developing and improving the supply base to support the manufacture and/or utilization of raw material solutions for the business. You will work collaboratively with suppliers and with other functional areas to drive excellence in new product development, cost, quality and delivery. Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate North America Procurement for the Performance Tapes regional business

  • Identify and source new raw materials and vendors for custom product development, ensure sourcing strategies are supported by both the North American business and Global Procurement

  • Develop and execute a raw material strategy in collaboration with marketing, manufacturing and Procurement

  • Collaborate with the Procurement team to reap maximum commonalities in cost and innovation across all North American businesses

  • Identify short-term and long-term supply risks, communicate and execute mitigation actions

  • Partner with Product Marketing to address customer needs and identify both short and long-term solutions

  • Ensure supplier readiness by working with project teams dedicated to product launches and changes

  • Work directly with suppliers where quality or business risk demands robust corrective action and improvement, escalate challenges to leadership when necessary

  • Engage with suppliers on purchase contracts where needed, either for Tapes unique suppliers or coordinated with centralized NA Procurement for shared suppliers

  • Review supplier scorecards internally and externally, identify areas for improvement and lead appropriate actions

  • Work with suppliers to continuously improve quality, delivery, payment terms and total cost

  • Lead or assist corrective action and settlement for problems that result from supplier quality and delivery failures

  • Evaluate application requirements against existing product specifications; working with suppliers and other partners to resolve misalignment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required

  • 3+ years purchasing or related experience with experience in sourcing, negotiation and commercial agreements

  • Technical aptitude, exemplified by education/training in chemistry, other engineering discipline or related work experience

  • Analytical and presentation skills, with ability to communicate efficiently, persuasively and credibly with suppliers, colleagues and senior management

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Expertise in negotiations

  • Manufacturing acumen, with ability to develop, communicate and reinforce CTQs

  • Execution (Focus, prioritization, follow-up, discipline)

  • Strong values and integrity, keeping with Avery Dennison’s Code of Conduct

  • Travel as required 10%
