Job Description

The Marketing Director, Performance Tapes North America (PTNA), develops and implements strategic marketing plans for the PTNA organization, drives top line growth and improves profitability by setting and executing solid marketing plans. You will develop and implement programs for new product development, pricing and product positioning and cost out activity resulting in profitable growth of the business. This position reports directly to the general manager, PTNA. This position sits on the PTNA leadership team and will have multiple product team direct reports.

Critical Objectives & Outcomes

  • Plan, direct and coordinate all direct marketing efforts including marketing of products and services.

  • Work closely with senior management and support teams to understand and communicate the strategic direction of the company to employees, shareholders, the media and local communities.

  • Direct the functions of product management, research, communications and business development and integrate them to achieve a unified approach.

  • Direct the Customer Service Team and continuous improvement of our customer service function

  • Work with marketing staff to plan, implement and track effective marketing strategies to improve the return on investment.

  • Work with vendors to build partnerships that can use costs discounts through economies of sale.

  • Continually evaluate the timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plan to meet changing competitive market conditions. Lead benchmarking of marketing-related topics in support of divisional goals.

  • Study, analyze and report on quality of service, customer attitudes, economic conditions and government controls with respect to their effect on sales of existing or proposed services.

  • Develop and handle marketing operating budget. Plan and lead advertising and promotion activities.

  • Translate market trends and customer needs into actionable goals that build competitive advantage.

  • Develop and put in place long-term marketing strategies that are geared toward developing greater market share and profitability.

  • Provide leadership to select global marketing initiatives.

  • Define the value proposition to the market, customers and industry including service, price and product platform strategies.

  • Set pricing strategies and monitor pricing and profitability with product line leaders.

  • Develop and execute appropriate business plans/multi-generation product plans to identify trends, opportunities for marketplace advantage and new ideas for products, processes and services. Direct market research and competitive analysis.

  • Develop Marketing Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures (OGSM) for assigned area and confirm linkage to global business strategies.

  • Identify and position converter and end-user product needs information regarding product quality, industry standard methodologies, product applications and consultative services.

  • Perform general management duties, exercising usual authority concerning staff, performance appraisals, promotions and development feedback. Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

  • 10+ years business experience, emphasizing sales and marketing desired.

  • Management experience, with emphasis on large strategic accounts, ideally coupled with knowledge of specific industry.

  • Experience in planning and forecasting, with practical experience in researching new opportunities and implementing successful account penetration.

  • Ability to foster new business ventures.

  • Excellent interpersonal and people skills, project management skills, with an ability to openly convey information to team members in a timely, concise manner.

  • Experience in strategic leadership and negotiation.

  • Experience in Marketing leadership with international exposure.

  • Demonstrated success in cross-regional projects or initiatives.

  • Understanding of applicable computer applications, such as Google, Microsoft Office, and Salesforce.com.

  • Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
