Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Maintenance Team Manager to join the Engineered Films Plant's Maintenance group in Concord, Ohio. As part of our team you will work cross-functionally within Operations, Supply Chain, Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality in supporting day to day operations as well as projects. The ability to work multiple functions / multi-task and influence others is key to the role. This is a day shift schedule, typically Monday-Friday, 6:30A-3:30P.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with operations to optimize production schedules, minimize customer impact, and improve efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot daily operational issues and serve as the primary contact for shift teams.

  • Manage the capital budget, proactively addressing potential issues.

  • Lead capital projects and process engineering initiatives to successful completion, ensuring projects are on time and within budget.

  • Drive process improvement, identifying and addressing areas for enhancement.

  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints, implementing corrective actions.

  • Develop a technical training strategy and foster talent development.

  • Possess strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including automation, controls, and facility systems.

  • Effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Promote collaboration, teamwork, and conflict resolution.

  • Demonstrate strong organization and computer skills (MS Office, CMMS, Google platform).

Safety:

  • Champion safety by ensuring adherence to all regulations and procedures.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.

  • Manage the MOC process for projects and upgrades.

Leadership:

  • Supervise and develop the Maintenance Team, providing comprehensive training and coaching (including TPM, 5S, preventive/predictive maintenance, CMMS).

  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and workflows.

  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and coaching to team members.

  • Optimize the work order system, spare parts inventory, and tool management to minimize downtime and costs.

  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate contracts, procure parts, and explore cost-saving opportunities.

  • Build strong relationships with Maintenance peers across the Avery Dennison network.

  • Develop and maintain the Mechanical Integrity Program in accordance with OSHA PSM guidelines.

Qualifications

Avery Dennison has a long history of being a market leader. Your history is important to us. It should include the following:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Would consider candidates with more experience in lieu of degree.

  • 5+ years of experience in plant maintenance/engineering leadership role. Experience in a 24/7 continuous environment is preferred.

  • Proven ability to build rapport with operations and maintenance teams while leading change initiatives.

  • Relevant industry certifications in process controls, electrical systems, or related fields are a plus, with expertise in troubleshooting and system optimization.

  • Flexibility to adapt to varied work hours and provide 24/7 on-call troubleshooting and support for manufacturing operations.

  • Proficiency in quantitative analysis, decision-making models, and process improvement methodologies, including Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.

  • Strong research and reporting skills, with the ability to present complex data and develop optimal solutions by evaluating multiple variables.

  • Competency in setting objectives and applying situational leadership to execute strategies effectively.
