The Finishing Lead Operator has responsibility for functions occurring within the finishing center operations. The Lead Operator is required to step in to fill the gaps in staffing and support the team with safety, quality and staffing moves. The Finishing Lead Operator may be assigned to duties that include packaging slit rolls to customer specifications, operating the manual packaging line, cutting cores, banding, etc while supporting & leading the team . This requires the understanding of Avery Dennison standard packaging practices. This role in the finishing operations include the operation of slitting, rewinding, and/or automated packaging equipment. This position may be required to rotate. This position is for the B shift scheduled Monday through Friday 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Overtime may be required per business needs.
Support and model all Finishing activities within the team: safety, quality, productivity, teamwork & staffing needs
Supports and priorities activities to meet daily targets and goals
Assist team/facility manager with work assignments, scheduling assets and obtaining OT coverage
Provides objective performance feedback to Team/Facility Manager for incorporation into performance reviews and development
Assists with communication of department goals and priorities
Coaches and shares best practices with all team members to drive results across the organization
Serve as a mentor to new employees and ensure they are receiving required training
Proactively communicates with the Plant Leadership Team regarding employee and operational challenges/ concerns.
Keep area supplied with necessary packaging materials
Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity
Communicate daily shift reports as/when needed
Adjusting staffing as needed to achieve production targets of the assets
S3, S4, Lever, Rewinder, sheeter, etc
Order and verify materials per order
Run orders per product specifications and standard practices.
Perform routine set-up and changeover of machine
Accurately capture and record necessary operating data, including downtime causes and performance-to-plan.
Inspect general appearance of finished product
Label and package finished goods for shipment per customer specifications, quality requirements, and standard practices
Maintain a clean, safe work area
Perform 5S duties and audits
Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed
Required to run machines as part of the team to meet targets
Provides support to supply assets with supplies (boxes, cores, etc.)
Follow all appropriate procedures to the accumulation, labeling, solid waste compacting, on-site transportation, storage and inspection of materials designated as hazardous waste per Environmental Control Instructions
Participate in group problem-solving teams and continuous improvement activities.

Perform all other duties assigned by Supervisor
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing experience.
Must have a strong detail orientation and be able to follow written and oral instruction.

Must demonstrate proficiency with computer applications, especially strong MFG Pro transactional skills.
Must be able to obtain Lift Truck Operator’s license.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
