Job Description

As the Enterprise Lean Sigma Project Leader, you will be a member of the quality and continuous improvement team at the plant level. The ELS Project Leader will be responsible for applying lean tools and methodologies for continuous improvement in processes, quality and machine reliability. The role is to partner with the plant team to identify opportunities, lead improvement teams, and drive improved processes that will achieve and sustain our strategic goals, impact financial results, and add value to our customers.

Job Responsibilities:

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze manufacturing and supply chain processes to identify activities that will eliminate non-value added activities.

  • Create and/or improve processes that add value to our customers.

  • Independently implement projects and sustain results using Lean and Six Sigma tools and methods.

  • Track and regularly report on key production and continuous improvement metrics.

  • Be a change agent

  • Challenge old ways of doing business and implement breakthrough improvements.

  • Identify and remove organizational barriers to continuous improvement processes.

  • Motivate others to accept process changes and encourage ownership and accountability.

  • Share best practices across business units, production sites, and support functions.

  • Support sites in developing and executing productivity plans

  • Develop in-depth understanding of Avery Dennison’ s Enterprise Lean Sigma philosophy and methods. Demonstrate through successful training and certification in these areas.

  • Train and educate others in the organization on Lean/ Six Sigma principles.

  • Facilitate problem solving, A3 thinking workshops, and Kaizen events

  • Achieve Six Sigma Greenbelt certification

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.

  • 2+ years technical and/or manufacturing experience.

  • Solid understanding of business metrics and customer value.

  • Proven leadership skills: able to coach, influence, and motivate others.

  • High energy, passion for excellence, bias for action. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and sustain change.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present complex topics in a concise manner.

  • Effective interpersonal skills dealing with people at various levels and in a variety of functions.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical capability. A background in statistical methods is a plus.

  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, and function specific software. Understanding of MiniTab software is a plus.

  • Travel could be up to 50%.
