Job Description

We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join the Engineered Films Plants within Avery Dennison. In this role, you will participate on our leadership team and report to the Plant Manager. What you will be doing:

  • Organizing and controlling the EHS functions of the two EFP sites in Painesville, Ohio to ensure that an effective accident prevention and regulatory compliance program is maintained.

  • Responsible for overall implementation of EHS with respect to federal, state and local requirements including company specific policies and programs.

  • Investigate all releases, injuries and near-misses to identify root cause and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations including non-Title V, RCRA VSQG hazardous waste, general SW programs, SPCC and annual TRI reporting.

  • Identifying and evaluating hazardous conditions and behaviors and developing hazard control practices and programs.

  • Reviewing plant incident statistics and making recommendations for correction of problem areas.

  • Conducting periodic risk assessments of plant machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure conformance to appropriate safety and sanitary standards and regulations.

  • Provide advice, assist, and audit the front line leadership to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and working.

  • Maintain working relationships with Regulatory Agencies and chair or co- chair and lead the Safety Team.

  • Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Response Plans & Procedures.

  • Actively participate in the Corporate EHS Network.

  • The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

  • Coach, Develop, and Support the other EHS resources within the facilities to achieve the overall environmental, health, and safety goals of the business.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Safety management or related discipline is strongly preferred. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an associates degree or other safety-related certification could also be considered.

  • 3+ years of EHS leadership experience with progressive work assignments, manufacturing preferred.

  • Strong leadership, managerial, training, and mentoring skills.

  • Detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements and EHS policies, procedures and programs.

  • Experience in NFPA 101 life safety codes, NFPA 70E, OSHA & EPA Regulations, .

  • Strong Project/Problem resolution skills.

  • Understanding of applicable computer systems including google based tools. Good written, verbal, communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong coaching, facilitating and training skills.
