Job Description

Avery Dennison is looking for a Process Engineer  for our Reflective Solutions business, focused on the traffic and safety industry. In this role, you will be responsible for designing innovative processes, increasing operational and process efficiency, and executing on complex engineering projects.  To be successful, you will need a degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, have demonstrated consistent ability to successfully execute on complex engineering projects, and have a real passion for collaborative work in a team based environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical support to the site operations including optimizing the· manufacturing processes, electroforming process, reduce production cost, scrap and set-up time, maximize productivity and support quality enhancements, and increasing throughput, production capabilities and efficiencies

  • Providing application support to the customers by solving converting issues at customer locations

  • Solving process issues associated with process equipment and/or product performance 

  • Supporting safety initiatives, programs and daily requirements 

  • Supporting Marketing and Product Development teams during new product communications

  • Lead cost-out initiatives on specific products to lower cost by maintaining the same level of quality thus improving margins on the products

  • Conducting process and equipment evaluations and develop operating parameters; 

  • Developing and maintaining a network of reputable vendors/suppliers and drive facility-wide continuous improvement initiatives 

  • Working in conjunction with R&D on the development, scale-up, and commercialization of new products and technology platforms; 

  • Conducting process optimization DOE’s in order to increase line speeds, decrease changeover times, and improve product yields; and,

  • Maintaining process condition database for constructions produced on the assigned production lines.

  • Providing leadership for production by creating a motivating environment for team members to meet and exceed facility goals for safety, service, quality, productivity, cost, and inventory control targets

  • Ensuring execution of standard operating procedures, quality standards cycle counts, safety and housekeeping audits, and ISO corrective actions 

  • Collaborating and partnering with technical and support resources in resolving problems and developing improved manufacturing and support processes through lean sigma and six sigma tools

  • Promoting safety as the most important value in the organization by actively enforcing all Environmental, Health and Safety policies & procedures and assuring participation of team members in required safety training

  • Participating in investigation and implementation of corrective action plans

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical / Mechanical / Metallurgical Engineering

  • Strong quantitative, analytical capability, statistical analysis skills and data driven

  • Minimum of 4 or more years of related Process Engineering work experience Manufacturing environment.

  • Understanding of applicable computer software and systems, such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, and function specific software (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Autocad, Solidworks)

  • Attention to detail & organizational skills

  • Strong problem solving skills 

  • Advanced troubleshooting skills are critical for this role. Thinking "out of the box"

  • Six Sigma certification is preferred

  • PE certification is a plus

  • Electroforming experience is a plus 

  • Effective interpersonal skills dealing with people at various levels and in a variety of functions.
