Job Description

This position plays a critical role in developing information systems by designing, developing, and/or supporting systems for RFID development & encoding systems. The System and Solutions Developer will help drive overall development, and data management solutions by analyzing information of current practices, and building out robust variable data and encoding platforms for the RFID Food development programs. General Programming skills, software design, software debugging, software documentation, problem-solving skills, and teamwork skills are an absolute must. Operational Developer will drive and execute software development fundamentals, software development process, and software requirements for all RFID Food item development and deployment.


  • Focus on RFID technology item development. Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.

  • Documents and demonstrations solutions by developing documents, flow charts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code for a robust solution package for the Food RFID/IL platform.

  • Update job knowledge and improvement of the organizations encoding & variable data management solutions by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment/software.

  • Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

  • Develops software solutions by studying information needs (based on business needs & fits for purpose),; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, work processes, investigating areas, and following the software development life cycle.

  • Coordinate development and testing of RFID solutions with Miamisburg, and Juarez Production sites.

  • Write clear specifications and quality plans for manufacturing.

  • Organize and maintain product samples and records.


  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of applicable computer systems including: Oracle, WebCenter, Google, Excel and Microsoft Office.

  • Proficient in programming languages: BASIC, C, C++, COBOL, JavaScript, VB Script

  • Ability to interface with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.

  • RFID serialization, schema, GS1-Global standard knowledge is a plus.

  • High ethical standards. Models and supports Avery Dennison Leadership Principles.

  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions, demonstrating persistence and overcomes obstacles.

  • Excellent communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey information and ideas in a tactful and confident manner to internal and external contacts.

  • Conscientious; attention to detail

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer/software programming strongly preferred
