Job Description
We are searching for a Process Engineer for our Embelex team based in Miamisburg, OH. The Process Engineer is a technical role that leads and supports step-change improvement and next generation manufacturing capabilities to drive improved speed to market, customer service, cost and quality. You will collaborate globally with other technical, operations, supply chain and business colleagues across all functions. All work is accomplished with focus on promoting EHS and sustainability.
As a Process Engineer you are assigned to lead and/or support strategies, initiatives and ongoing technology associated with innovation at Avery Dennison manufacturing sites and outsource partners.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Identification and development of technologies and process changes to reduce time and manual effort.
Identification and development of next generation manufacturing platforms and processes, accelerating conversion to digital workflow.
Ongoing collaboration and communication with colleagues and stakeholders across all functions to understand priority needs and opportunities and to share ideas and proposals.
Engage in processes to proactively identify potential solutions, establish and engage in ongoing practices to build a culture that encourages trying new things and failing fast to drive rapid learning.
Drive growth, cost reduction, yield and product quality improvements, capacity increases and EHS improvements.
Supporting technology and product roadmaps for near and long term strategy - recommending and advising on capital investments, equipment modifications, and technology improvements.
Proactively managing execution of priority initiatives to deliver improved processes and results.
Write technical reports and document research. Summarize critical results and observations. Verify reliability of data.
Develops standard operational procedures (SOPs) for design and process across new and existing product lines.
Qualifications
B.S. in the sciences required with specific degrees in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Industrial Engineering preferred
Minimum 3 years related work experience - manufacturing technologies, operations, process improvements, and problem solving
Basic knowledge of industrial lasers and laser materials; processing of non-metallic materials a plus, but not required
Basic knowledge of material handling equipment for roll-fed and sheet-fed materials is a plus, but not required
Experience with digital printing technology and inks
Experience with operating and maintaining digital inkjet printing systems.
Expertise for manufacturing technologies, process automation and innovation
Position requires excellent problem-solving skills with high levels of motivation, initiative and energy
Direct experience with Heat Transfer labeling and chemistry is highly desirable
Effective written and oral communications
Proficiency with applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite of Apps (gmail, docs, sheets, slides, forms)
Proficient in CAD tools
Ability to resolve root cause and corrective/preventive actions with problem solving techniques such as FMEA, fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, and additional lean sigma tools
Good planning skills and working experience with planning techniques
Able to work independently as well as in a team
Ability to interact effectively with both internal and external customers
Lean principles and applications
Basic project management skills
People leadership and interpersonal skills
Ability to travel when required to support business
Ability to work on multiple projects and priorities with limited supervision
