The Avery Dennison Identification Solutions group is looking for a machinist to join the team at our manufacturing site in Miamisburg, Ohio. In this position, you will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will be responsible for managing tool repairs and providing support to manufacturing engineering for continuous improvement projects.
Your primary responsibilities and essential functions include:
Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Assist Manufacturing Engineering with troubleshooting of process disturbances.
Provide support for manufacturing operations to resolve production and quality issues that arise on a day-to- day basis.
Perform effective root cause problem solving to solve process issues associated with tooling and/or machine performance.
Work from schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in the tooling or equipment.
Maintain good organization of tool & part drawings and follow ISO standard document control procedures.
Interact with the Maintenance and Engineering team to ensure equipment reliability.
Identify safety issues, support safety initiatives, and recommend and implement effective solutions.
Provides support for technology upgrade projects to improve product quality and manufacturing effectiveness.
Conduct training of employees for proper tool alignment and care.
Develop standard operating procedures for equipment operation, preventative maintenance, and process improvements.
Performs basic Oracle transactions as required.
May be required to work overtime.
High School degree or equivalent required
5+ years of experience in machine shop
Apprenticeship or vocational training pHrefered
Must be able to hold tight tolerances
Must be able to operate MasterCam for engraving block characters
Knowledge of how to operate the following pieces of machinery
HAAS OM-1 Vertical Mill
Hydraulic Surface Grinder
Contour Band Saw
Working knowledge of safety protocols
High-energy, self-directed, self-starter
Ability to execute multiple projects with minimal supervision
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Hands-on ability to work through symptoms and get to root cause
Experience in troubleshooting equipment and process issues
