Job Description

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Lead the design and implementation of innovative and disruptive products from concept phase to mass production.  Support product throughout lifecycle.

  • Participate as part of a development team, proactively contribute during conceptual design and architectural strategic planning sessions, provide in-depth technical input and analysis, lead design reviews, and actively participate as part of the overall engineering team.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to mechanical design staff, assisting with project initiation, planning, budgeting, scheduling, problem resolution, and document control.

  • Allocating resources and time effectively to meet project goals.  Manage project milestones to meet all schedule, performance and budget goals. 

  • Provide recommendations for tooling and equipment capital purchases.

  • Present information and effectively communicate with cross functional team members, managements, directors, external development partners, and customers. 

  • Leverage internal and external experts to accomplish goals.

  • Utilize individual creativity and methodical problem solving methods to research, understand, and resolve complex mechanical-electrical-firmware problems.

  • Maintain awareness of advances in technology and competitive intellectual property.

  • Effectively apply mechanical engineering best practices, latest innovations, analysis tools and machine shop manufacturing knowledge to designs.

  • Develop, update, and maintain drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 

  • 7+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering

  • Extensive experience developing products.

  • Experience with injected molded plastic design is required.  Sheet Metal design experience is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of interfaces of mechanical design to electrical, firmware, and software systems.

  • Superb creativity, vision, and problem-solving skills. Technically creative with an understanding of mechanical functions to provide solutions in a robust and economical manner.

  • Self-motivated to initiate and implement tasks, strategies and techniques in a goal oriented manner to assure projects are completed on-time, on-scope and on-budget.

  • Ability to work independently and foster a team environment, in a fast-paced environment.  Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

  • Mechanical design and 3D modeling experience with Solidworks preferred

  • Thermal Flow, Strain/Stress, and Torque analysis experience

  • Mathematical mechanical modeling and simulation experience (e.g. Solidworks Simulation)

  • Experienced in drawing creation for assemblies and details to include all dimensions, tolerances, and documentation to allow the manufacture and assembly of designs that meet specified requirements

  • Ability to make decisions in high-stress situations.

  • Curiosity and a growth mindset that is energized by innovation.

  • Ability to balance (prioritize/manage) multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong problem solving abilities, including the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems quickly

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
