This position is responsible for performing standard and moderately complex set-ups and operations for custom and standard supply product using up to five color presses requiring shade, tone & hue variations, precise print registration and multiple die cutting stations. Provides support to team members utilizing knowledge and expertise. This position is on second shift, working hours are 3:15 PM to 1:45 AM, Monday through Thursday.
Interprets order specifications/special instructions and ensures all production materials are at press prior to set-up and appropriate inspection of cylinders, plates, and other tooling/parts are made to ensure a high quality and proficient production run. Orders tooling and supplies as required.
Applies skills and proficiencies in performing standard and moderately complex set ups; interpretation of custom and standard specifications and special instructions, printing cylinder preparation and installation, mounting plates/tooling, inking fountain and rollers, loading supply rolls, splicing webs, setting impressions, mixing and matching ink (including UV top coats) and processing set-ups which includes proper web tension, registration and print quality. Approves own set-up for production run.
Operates assigned press through production run performing critical/minute adjustments to maintain print registration, ink color, ink levels, viscosity and color consistency. Operates and maintains all related press equipment (i.e. Fanfolder).
Applies knowledge and skills in performing preventative/general maintenance (cleaning and lubrication), troubleshooting and corrective action on moderately complex on-press problems.
Records and reports all finished production. Completes and processes all related documentation via PC or handwritten.
Incumbent performs general housekeeping tasks and waste removal within department/group and assists other areas as required.
As a member of a production support team trains, assists, and supports other team members in problem solving and meeting department goals. Continuously reviews current processes and searches out improvement methods to improve product/process quality, reduce waste, rework, and unnecessary work that adds no value to the work or process.
Based on business need, assists/supports in other job functions within process or other company processes within scope and ability.
Will be required to follow ISO Work Instructions as well as OPV.
High school graduate or equivalent.
A minimum of 1 to 3 years demonstrated proficiency in performing one or two color standard supply printing presses producing ticket, tags or labels performing standard set-ups, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
Demonstrated basic math proficiency and mechanical aptitude.
Good vision including color.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of overlay gauges, reading shop scale and using other measurement tools.
Must have basic PC skills for reporting production.
Must be able to follow verbal and written instruction.
Must be able to tolerate chemicals used in press operations.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. By hand or with lift aids push, pull, and turn 305 lbs. With hand truck maneuvers 1584 lbs.
Must be able to continuously stand, stoop, and bend.
