Job Description

The Procurement Manager oversees the approval and control of the procurement function, within limits of delegated authority. This position investigates all new developments relative to materials and supplies, and makes recommendations designed to reduce costs and improve quality. The Procurement Manager is also responsible for negotiating commercial terms and implementing purchasing agreements with suppliers. This role is based on sustained delivery of business results, including supply assurance, cost, quality, service and innovation, which are required to meet the business needs.

Centralized Purchasing Focus: This Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing the North America centralized purchasing process, including all things that are purchased on a centralized level, such as Equipment, Materials, Services, and Supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the purchasing of services and supplies necessary for operation of an organization including machinery, equipment, tools and raw materials.

Review proposals for price, delivery time and quality and then select suppliers. Approve and qualify vendors.

Assist in instituting and promoting cost reduction projects. Monitor the cost, schedule and performance factors of major subcontractors.

Coordinate with other departments to determine materials needed and schedules to be met.

Use RFIs/RFPs, leveraging, and benchmarking to deliver business results and competitive advantage. Establish and execute pertinent written agreements.

Research and develop sources of supply for assigned commodities.

Analyze suppliers and markets to identify trends, industry dynamics, opportunities for marketplace advantage, and new ideas for products, processes and services.

Gather information about competitors’ materials, technologies, supply base, sourcing strategies, etc. to benchmark competitors’ costs, service, etc.

Work to develop/publish/implement strategies that enable high quality, delivery, and productivity cost savings.

Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.

Develop and maintain appropriate and productive supplier relationships.

Improve cooperation across geographic and organization boundaries by identifying barriers and working with Regional Purchasing Leaders and Global VP to eliminate barriers.

Develop and maintain appropriate and productive supplier relationships, including involvement in critical negotiations.

Qualifications

Requirements and Prior Experience

Bachelor’s degree required.

7+ years purchasing or related experience required.

Supervision and Leadership experience a plus.

Manufacturing industry experience required.

Prior experience leading complex supplier/vendor negotiations and developing contracts.

Possess leadership, mentoring, training and project management experience

Experience developing supplier diversity

Experience in sustainability initiatives and metrics

Ability to travel
