Avery Dennison, a Fortune 500 manufacturing company, is seeking a Manager, Global Tax Provision, reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Tax Provision. The primary function of this role is supporting the global income tax provision process with a focus in Latin America and Canada, global SOX compliance, stock-based compensation, and global cash tax forecast. This role requires a strong understanding of US GAAP tax accounting (ASC 740), issue identification and resolution, critical thinking, accountability, and attention to detail. The successful candidate will work with Avery Dennison’s global tax team based in the US, Europe, and Asia with demonstrated leadership and competency to ensure the company’s compliance with SEC reporting requirements.
Manage non-US income tax provision, including review of tax provision schedules, forecasts, tax adjustments, proof of tax balance sheet accounts, and reconciliations in accordance with ASC 740
Support the preparation of quarterly uncertain tax position (FIN 48) reports and valuation allowance analysis
Act as the primary contact for local finance teams and provide technical support on all income tax-related matters
Lead SOX control performance activities and oversee testing of the tax department controls
Prepare quarterly tax computations for stock-based compensation and recharge to foreign affiliates
Assist with quarterly global cash tax forecast and compile required tax input for purposes of annual goodwill impairment testing
Monitor proposed and enacted global tax legislation changes and provide guidance to local finance teams
Assist with international tax planning opportunities, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing arrangements, M&A transactions, and restructurings
Collaborate with corporate finance community, internal/external auditors, and advisors
Lead, develop, and mentor the team, including project management, execution, and delivery
Perform special projects as required
5+ years of experience with a publicly traded corporation and/or Big 4 accounting firm with demonstrated understanding of US GAAP tax accounting (ASC 740)
Experience in a multinational company, ideally with business in Latin America and Canada
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or Master’s degree in Tax preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate in both technical and non-technical language across geographic and functional boundaries
Demonstrated experience in analyzing information, developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and executing
Attention to detail, self-motivated, well organized, and ownership of projects
A team player, ability to manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
Willingness to travel globally as needed
Foreign language skill, ideally in Spanish and/or Portuguese, is a plus
Software: OneSource Tax Provision, Hyperion HFM, Oracle, and MS Office
