Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Global Sustainability Communications and Engagement Specialist 

to provide subject matter expertise and leadership in advancing the sustainability journey through targeted engagement and communication.   

 

This role is to  develop and implement a strong internal and external sustainability communication and engagement programme. The candidate must be knowledgeable and passionate about sustainability issues and has an infectious drive and enthusiasm to inspire, engage and educate others. Strong professional with demonstrated global experience and a relentless capacity to work across functions and geographies. 

 

In this role  you are part of the global sustainability team and partner closely with the corporate communication team. 

Responsibilities:

Development and execution of an internal and external sustainability communication program in alignment with the corporate narrative.

  • Set up new sustainability engagement initiatives and  manage  existing internal communication channels such as the Sustainability Community on the company intranet. 

  • Develop ad-hoc training materials targeted to different business functions. 

  • Be a central point of contact in the organization for sustainability related questions, stay updated and informed on the latest internal and external sustainability developments.  

  • Develop message houses for key sustainability topics.  

  • Work closely with the corporate communications team on the delivery of internal and external content. 

  • Create or manage creation of communications collateral, working with agencies and designers as required.

  • Monitor and measure the roll-out of sustainability engagement and communication programmer.

  • Support the global sustainability team on relevant global initiatives. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred or equivalent

  • 7+ years of business experience, preferably within the manufacturing and/or packaging industry

  • Experience in sustainability 

  • Excellent understanding of generalist sustainability concepts, including social and environmental standards (e.g. Science Based Targets Initiative, UN Sustainable Development Goals)

  • Experience managing change communications in a matrix organization is desirable

  • International experience and exposure

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively both individually, and in a collaborative, team setting

  • Comfortable with dealing with complexity, curious and looking forward to learning new concepts to do business differently

  • Demonstrated success in cross-regional projects or initiatives

  • Excellent organizational and people skills, project management skills

  • Occasional travel is part of the job
