Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a creative, focused, and strategic leader to join our team as the Director of Talent Acquisition. The North America Recruitment team consists of 15+ individuals (blend of full-time and contract) many of whom are located in Mentor, OH, and others who are geographically dispersed across the US.  Talent Acquisition at Avery Dennison encompasses professional, manufacturing, executive, and early careers hiring for several lines of business and all functions which drives a significant volume of requisitions ongoing with high complexity.

The leader that assumes this role should have strong business acumen and will place an emphasis on partnering with leadership across a complex, matrixed enterprise. This leader will be both a strategic leader and a ‘doer’ when needed, demonstrating excellent recruiting practices while leading Sr. Level searches as necessary. The best candidate will apply a blend of design thinking, process improvement, data analytics, and strategy in their problem-solving to build operational excellence and scalability. This leader will forge strong relationships with cross-functional partners and earn trust from the business leaders by quickly solving problems, delivering on KPI’s and creating new ways to attract and hire the best talent. Additionally, this person will grow and develop the talent acquisition team members in line with the TA and business strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic partnership to business leaders to develop staffing strategies that fit the business need.  Analyze hiring performance to inform adjustments to hiring strategies to optimize resources and investments.

  • Develop and engage talent acquisition professionals to provide a best-in-class experience to both candidates and leaders. Manage all aspects of team performance and development of direct reports to encourage professional growth.

  • Review and refine our staffing models and approach in partnership with business leaders. Determine areas of excellence to manage internally vs where we should leverage outside partnerships, as necessary.

  • Provide strategic leadership to early careers program for the region, leading the early careers manager and team

  • Will be an active recruiter on Sr. Level roles, whether directly leading the search or managing an agency partner 

  • Responsible for developing and driving talent acquisition metrics and trend analysis. Leverage metrics and performance for coaching and team development. Partner with hiring leaders, HR leadership and Senior Management to take action based on proper use of analysis.

  • Partner with leaders to execute on our Diversity & Inclusion priorities and drive recruiting-related initiatives that make Avery Dennison a great place to work for all talent

  • Stay current with employment trends and technology to design talent acquisition processes to fit our needs. Identify new and sustainable candidate streams

  • Collaborate with HR and Talent Management to ensure strategy connectivity and consistent talent experiences. 

  • Actively participate in the Global TA community, global standards and sharing best practices and ensuring best practices are brought into the region

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters preferred.

  • Prior experience leading a Talent Acquisition function 

  • 15+ years of  talent acquisition experience with 5 or more years in a TA management role

  • Experience in corporate and manufacturing/plant environment

  • Comprehensive knowledge of current/modern HR/talent strategy, can envision and create an enhanced acquisition strategy for a growing diverse workforce

  • Proven analytical mindset- using data to tell stories and drive decisions; you seek to understand and solve a problem, you instinctively ask for the data. You are fluent with recruiting analytics and how to build and improve systems and processes around them

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks at the same time

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presenting to senior leadership teams

  • Proven ability to manage, mentor and develop a team of recruiters

  • Ability to learn/flex and adapt to changing business needs, 

  • Adapts positively to stressful situations: takes initiative to manage conflict, flexible and resilient and recovers quickly from setbacks

  • Proven ability to influence and manage a budget and vendors.
