Job Description

The Raw Material Planner reports to the Master Production Scheduler and prepares business related analyses and research for Supply Chain, Materials Management, and/or Logistics. This role focuses on activities related to Buying, Planning, Scheduling, and Inventory / Material Control. This role also focuses on improvements to processes and preparing reports, graphs and charts of data and/or ensuring efficiency.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Manage and improve raw material planning and ordering processes: conduct daily planning / ordering for all chemical raw materials; analyze raw material usage in response to demand or supply changes; improve and standardize daily planning processes.

  • Maintain and improve vendor management process involved in forecasting and ordering

  • Manage site raw material inventory to achieve service and inventory objectives.  Oversee site inventory management processes for raws (cycle counts, loss reduction projects, and SLOB inventory).

  • Identify and lead projects to improve raw planning, inventory management, and service.

  • Provide support for new product introduction or transitions

  • Resolves all invoice exceptions by working with finance, accounts payable, material handling, and other raw buyer(s)

  • Coordinates all international orders by working with customer service, scheduling, transportation, and shipping

  • Helps with sales order management by monitoring customer service requests and communicating with the appropriate schedulers to see if improvements can be made on hot orders

  • Assists with key inventory initiatives across the site, including SLOB analysis and management, zone roll consumption, and physical inventory preparation

  • Manage the daily editor schedule by working with the operations, scheduling and engineering, to prioritize items

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

  • This role will work in-office 3 days/week #LI-Hybrid

Qualifications

  •  High school diploma or equivalent, 

  • 2 years previous scheduling, planning, or supply chain experience.  Knowledge of General Supply Chain, Materials Management, and Logistics required.

  • Detail oriented and excellent analytical, mathematical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills

  • Results oriented focus and ability to take ownership to resolve issues.

  • Flexibility and willingness to initiate change and lead change.

  • High customer focus: ability to proactively identify and meet customer needs.

  • Ability to interface with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.

  • Ability to use enterprise lean sigma (ELS) problem solving tools to identify root cause, including A3 Thinking, or other lean methodology.

  • Ability to work well with all levels of management and employees.

  • Familiarity in process documentation and improvement.

  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and ERP systems.

Preferred Requirements 

  • APICS certification preferred.
