Main point of contact with LOA administrator service providers (UNUM, Broadspire)
Main point of contact for all leave of absence escalation activity
Provides expert assistance to all sites regarding management of FMLA, disability, and workers comp.
Works in partnership with director and members of H&W team, site management, HR, EH&S, Risk Management, nurses, and all internal and external customers to ensure effective management of leave of absence program, and workers’ compensation.
Provide LOA policy counsel to HR and Management
Support employee understanding of LOA, WC, and disability programs- including CA SDI
Work with third party vendor to ensure appropriate management and monitoring of Worker Compensation claims. Collaborate with workers compensation vendor, attorneys, and adjustors to investigate and resolve claims. Coordinate approvals for settlement offers. Gather relevant data as requested for all hearings, arbitrations
Work with HR and Management on determining accommodations
Collaborate with HR Business Partners on store safety programs
Oversee vacation and sick pay policies, including compliance with local ordinances
Ensure benefits for employees on LOA are appropriately transitioned, process enrollments/terminations, conduct premium and enrollment audits, respond to employee queries
Build and distribute standardized reports, produce ad-hoc reports as needed
This role may also operate from our Mentor, OH facility if this would be the hired candidate's preference.
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS) by the the Disability Management Employer Coalition is desired but not mandatory
Be familiars with legislative requirements related to leave of absence
5+ years of experience in Workers Compensation, Leave of Absence administration, Benefits administration or HR generalist role
Experience administering FMLA, CFRA, Military, Pregnancy disability, Parental and personal leaves; Knowledge of FMLA and ADA requirements
Experience administering Health and Welfare benefits
Experience with vendor management
High attention to detail and customer service oriented, desired
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively and build relationships
Excellent organization and time management skills
Self-motivated and ability to work well within a fast paced environment with strict deadlines
Strong Analytical/Problem solving abilities
Experience with PeopleSoft, HR/Payroll or ADP Vantage desirable
