Job Description

Avery Dennison is a global leader in pressure-sensitive adhesives and materials, labels, tags, retail systems and specialty chemicals. The Fastener Solutions Division of Avery Dennison is a worldwide manufacturer of plastic fastening systems used in the automotive, apparel, retail, industrial and packaging industries. Our three-shift injection molding and extrusion operation is located in Fitchburg, MA. The Fastener Solutions Division is ISO/TS 16949 certified.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Disassemble, clean and re-assemble complex injection molds.

  • Convert and change over Mold components to support production.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on the injection molds

  • Conduct regular repairs and maintenance as needed.

  • Takes direction from Tooling Engineer and Toolroom Supervisor and works with Engineering and co-workers to perform major maintenance and tool refurbishments.

  • Perform all day-to-day tool room activities, reaction to production demands as directed.

  • Evaluate condition and determine improvements needed in existing molds and document and communicate those to the Toolroom Supervisor or Tooling Engineer.

  • Follow tooling preventive maintenance policies, document in mold book and on spreadsheets, and report findings to the Tooling Engineer.

  • Conduct mold troubleshooting as needed. Observe tool condition while cleaning and converting. Document and report findings to Tooling Engineer.

  • Familiar with hot runner manifolds, electrical testing; capable to tear down and completely rewire heaters and thermocouples wiring mold plugs is a plus.

  • Knowledge of stoning and polishing mold article details while keeping required shut off edges sharp.

  • Help maintain the Toolroom through 5S initiatives and good housekeeping practices. Keeps change-over documents and components in order and never stops improving.

  • Adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines at all times.

  • Team player who continues to improve as an individual and helps the team to achieve successful goal attainment.

  • You should assume you may be asked to work overtime on occasion.

Qualifications

WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

  • HS diploma or equivalent required.

  • 3+ years of experience in maintaining or building molds in the plastic injection molding industry.

  • Good organization skills, ability , willingness to return components and parts properly in their place.

  • Good understanding of Class 101 Mold maintenance and upkeep.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics is a plus.

  • CNC EDM set up and operation experience is a plus.

  • Experience as a Machinist or Mold Maker’s Helper is a plus.

  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
