About your role

The primary purpose of this role is to support improvement of existing Injection Molding processes, design, install, configure and maintain manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve equipment reliability, and develop standard methodologies within the production process. Work on maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems, while improving quality, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.

Hands-on Process Engineer with experience developing new processes and fixing existing processes

What you will be doing:

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Support production in improving process reliability and performance.

  • Key success factors include reducing equipment downtime and scrap, improving line performance and quality throughout and reducing changeover times.

  • Support and develop production projects for the plant in the molding and print departments.

  • Provide mentorship to the production team on assigned tasks and projects.

  • Facilitate continuous improvement process, identify cost-savings and process improvement projects and move them from concept to implementation.

  • Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing systems and process improvements that optimize all phases of the production process; be actively involved in the development and implementation of long term improvement plans.

  • Build and maintain process flow, PFMEA, Standard Operating Procedures and line capability and performance documentation.

  • Support, cost, estimate and document all engineering changes.

  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any quality non conformances related to product, process and systems.

  • Provide technical inputs for incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action.

  • Responsible for testing new tools and new materials.

  • Assist with preliminary parts and mold design concepts. Attend part and tooling design reviews and make recommendations as needed.

  • Perform Design of Experiments (DOE) for fixing and process optimization.

  • Provide coaching and training for process technicians

Qualifications

What we will be looking for in you:

  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in injection molding or extrusion facility

  • Strong manufacturing process skills/ experience.

  • Must have injection molding experience, have working knowledge of PLC's, automation, and high speed manufacturing equipment.

  • Analytical skills and understanding of problem solving techniques/tools.

  • Data-driven, disciplined, objective and detail oriented.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Plastic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Technical Field)
