Job Description

Provide strategic leadership to the RBIS business on complex and evolving government legislation relating to digital compliance labeling as well as extended producer responsibilities that affect digital labeling. Use insights about global digital labeling legislation and industry changes to identify opportunities or challenges that would directly impact our product solutions.

The role will work to positively influence compliance legislation through participating in trade organizations, driving industry working groups, seeking feedback from industry leaders, and positioning Avery Dennison as an active leader within the digital landscape. The role will partner with Product Line Management teams to establish and drive a strategy that enables Avery Dennison to expand and optimize our digital compliance labeling framework. This role will identify and leverage partners that can support achieving our digital compliance strategy.

The position requires creative thinking to identify opportunities, and strong management skills to execute plans which enhance Avery Dennison profitability. The role will influence, negotiate, and drive consensus with external stakeholders in alignment with Avery Dennison’s strategy. A strong knowledge of apparel & footwear labeling as well as digital data management and consumer engagement is needed. Requires ability to understand and articulate technical details relevant to apparel & footwear compliance labeling, digital technologies, and apparel industry practices.

Your Responsibilities

  • Partner with Government Affairs to establish and implement strategy to positively impact legislation within the area of digital labeling that includes: compliance labeling requirements, circularity, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).

  • Lead and participate in industry workgroups, and connect with industry leading experts to establish joint approaches to demonstrate use cases and application of digital labeling

  • Partner with PLM teams to establish a digital labeling strategy that capitalizes on changes in policy and legislation. Bring a commercial mindset to the team to help identify revenue opportunities.

  • Drive the establishment of technical digital labeling standards definition

  • Identify digital labeling pilots for Avery Dennison and ecosystem partners

  • Maintain awareness of advances in technology and competitive intellectual property relating to digital labeling.

  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with internal stakeholders, project teams, legal teams, external business partners, and suppliers.

  • Establish and execute a plan to deliver results against strategic digital compliance goals, and measure quarterly results against the plan.


  • 8+ years of relevant experience in regulatory space

  • 5+ years working in the apparel industry

  • Self-starter, takes initiative, and has entrepreneurial spirit that is able to work independently and collaboratively

  • Excellent organizational and people skills, with an ability to openly convey information to team members in a timely, concise manner

  • Good project management skills

  • Strong team player with proven ability to work effectively and build relationships with internal colleagues across global offices as well as with outside partners.

  • Strong influencing skills

  • Digital understanding and vocabulary

  • Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills

  • Experience with key apparel industry groups.

  • Demonstrated curiosity and growth mindset

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time


  • Bachelor degree required (or equivalent)
