Job Description

The Retail Business Information Systems division at Avery Dennison is looking for a project manager to lead the product development initiatives within the digital solutions segment. You will report to the Digital Solutions Program Manager and will be a key member on the Program Governance team. Together with the Program Manager, you will support building that framework for a program that will realize high innovation product delivery. You will have experience running agile projects while working collaboratively with product managers and various internal teams. To be successful in this role, you will be confident in managing all aspects of each project workstream including: Leading project kick off events, keeping scope and schedule within project plan, working with the product owner and various development teams to not only deliver products in committed timeframes but also vigorously identify risks and engage the right levels of escalation, create and distribute various project status communications.

This role can be remote with 25% travel Post-Covid

Activities may include but not limited to:

  • Resourcing demand in the form of picking up and responding to key indicators of resourcing threats or needs within projects.

  • Support the Product managers of each project with level setting customer and business expectations for product & project deliverables.

  • Responsible for arranging & hosting regular update meetings with business and other stakeholders that will not only update on project status but also serve as a stage for early issues identification. 

  • Work within the forming program governance structure that is intended to accelerate agile journeys within a practical disciplined agile framework. 

  • Champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for effective delivery.

Qualifications

What you will need to bring to the team: 

  • 5-7 years of direct project management experience with large, complex projects working cross-functionally with software engineering and business teams. 

  • Proven experience with agile project management tools and concepts, including resource management. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with sensitive issues, develop others or influence inside and outside the department. 

  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands. 

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and high emotional IQ that allows for interacting with individuals at all levels of the organization, including department leadership. 

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education: 

  • PMP Certification 

  • BA or BS or equivalent experience is required 

  • Prior experience managing software development and data integration projects is a plus. 

  • Working knowledge of Disciplined Agile or SAFe principles is highly desirable.
