Job Description
Avery Dennison is looking for a data-driven IT Director - Development who is passionate about customer success, transformation, quality, and on-time delivery. The IT Director - Development will be responsible for managing the custom printing platform, custom applications, modernization of legacy systems using cloud-based digital technologies, and operation support.
Keys to success in this role are to establish key metrics, a culture of continuous improvement of customer onboarding time, modern development processes and standards, supporting IT partners, and establish a 24/7 operation support model.
We are looking for an experienced technology guru who grew up with hands-on digital development background, can drive printing technology transformation, manage ongoing business needs and transform legacy team and application to digital. The ideal candidate must be highly passionate about harnessing the power of tech to serve business goals, immersed in technological advancements, opportunities, and challenges, with endless curiosity on how to “modernize application operations”. Key responsibilities include the operation of the Print platform, Ecommerce solution, transforming legacy applications to cloud-enabled, driving agile culture, and supporting IT strategies.
WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE ROLE
Focused on managing and modernize printing platforms for labels, and the ability to lead and modernize complex custom-build applications across functions. Prior development experience from Print industry and digital development will be highly preferred.
Passionate about the possibilities of digital and inspire entire development team to rapidly adopt new digital products and modernize print platform
Energized by working both independently and interdependently in matrix organization
Motivated to work agile and being open to the change
Deep understanding of how to set up and manage a successful release and rollout of custom enhancement together with relevant stakeholders
Extensive knowledge of printing label development and building integrated design
Experience in working with iterative, agile product development and deployment teams, including key events and artifacts
Experience in handling complex environments with multiple product launches happening across different markets simultaneously
Assume overall accountability of the development and operation of custom solutions from planning to inception
Serve as a key player and a visionary along with other leaders in the advancement of capabilities and offerings that are designed to develop and grow brands in the digital age
Develop, mentor, inspire and manage all the members of the development team
Participate in new business activities by proposing solutions
Lead expert in explaining complex technical solutions in a simple yet impactful manner, and in presenting trade-offs to internal teams and clients through clearly articulated evidence
Lead and strengthen technology partner relationships
Provides direction and management of overall activities within software and support departments containing multiple teams
Overall responsibility for understanding and meeting performance metrics to include developing/supporting the operations budget and identifying financial variances and the business/performance metrics that drive them
Ability to develop a customer onboarding strategy through knowledge of business and direction while also supporting/understanding corporate vision and goals
Develop processes and procedures that improve efficiency within department
Coach and assist supervisors in handling all team related activities
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Computer Science
Experience:
10-15 years + years of experience leading software operation and engineering in large companies
Hands on experience in prior to leadership in development on technology such as Java, Java script, .net, python, githubs and Microservices etc.
Experience with Project Methodologies (Agile design thinking, cultural transformation, etc.)
Strong Leader who can mentor and manage cross cultural and remote teams
Experience in Print industry highly preferred
Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment. Working in Agile environment
Professional written, presentation and spoken communication skills in English
Travel up to 20%
