Job Description

ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

You will be joining Avery’s newly stood up Digital Data Factory (DFactory), a centralized team responsible for planning and executing the digital roadmap within Avery’s RBIS division. The DFactory will be filled with digital talent that will be working on the most important initiatives within RBIS to increase operational efficiency and unlock value for our customers, in close collaboration with internal resources and external partners.

​You will design, build and manage the architecture that helps analyze and process data as required by the initiatives in the DFactory and make sure those systems are performing smoothly. You will also prepare the “big data” infrastructure to be analyzed by Data Scientists.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Developing sustainable data driven solutions with next gen data technologies to meet the needs of our organization and customers

  • Building data pipeline frameworks to automate high-volume and real-time data delivery for our Hadoop and streaming data hub

  • Building robust systems with an eye on the long term maintenance & support of the application

  • Building data APIs and data delivery services that support critical operational and analytical applications for our internal business operations, customers and partners

  • Transforming complex analytical models into scalable, production-ready solutions

  • Continuously integrating & shipping code into our on premise & cloud Production environments

  • Developing applications from ground up using a modern technology stack such as Scala, Spark, Postgres, Angular JS, and NoSQL

  • Working directly with Product Owners and customers to deliver data products in a collaborative and agile environment

  • Writing test data scripts and execute formal test plans to ensure the quality delivery of data related projects

  • Identifying opportunities for automation within software processes

  • Designing and executing QA tests using scripts that automatically test functionality

Qualifications

WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 2+ years of experience in designing and developing Data Pipelines for Data Ingestion or Transformation using Java or Scala or Python

  • 2+ years of experience in the following Big Data frameworks: File Format (Parquet, AVRO, ORC), Resource Management, Distributed Processing and RDBMS

  • 2+ years of developing applications with Monitoring, Build Tools, Version Control, Unit Test, TDD, Change Management to support DevOps

  • 2+ years of experience with SQL and Shell Scripting experience

  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure or public cloud service

  • ​Preferred

  • 2+ years of experience working with Dimensional Data Model/pipelines

  • Intermediate level experience/knowledge in at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, JavaScript)

  • 2+ years of experience with Streaming using Spark or Flink or Kafka or NoSQL

  • Basic understanding of ETL standards and best practices
