Job Description

What we can offer you! - Your Role:

As a Product Line Manager - External Embellishments you are responsible for understanding the market for Avery Dennison’s solutions and developing a product line strategy that identifies and exploits key profit pools to enable top and bottom line growth for a specific solution. The PLM develops and oversees the efforts to increase market share and profitability, and extend the life of the relevant product line. In this case you will focus on our External Embellishments product portfolio, specifically focusing on solutions and innovation for our Team Sports channel. Your role would serve as a catalyst in bringing innovative solutions to the organization and fulfilling the needs of key US/ European leagues and federations.

As a Product Line Manager You will partner with different divisions within our organization to build and execute on the External Embellishments product line strategy. Key Stakeholders will be the Commercial, Business Development, Product Development and Innovation teams, with whom you will identify and evaluate market needs and develop specific value propositions that convert into new or incremental sales for the external embellishments product line. As the market expert for external branding solutions, you utilize this expertise to help strategically drive market growth and sales wins. You are responsible for articulating global consumer insights, trends, and innovations into a go to market solutions approach– as well as being responsible for enabling the commercial organization with knowledge on new solutions including new product training.

Responsibilities extend to relevant product planning and execution throughout the product life cycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with internal teams to ensure revenue targets, business objectives and customer needs and expectations are met.

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct regular market and competitive analysis within the External Embellishment sector and domain for knowledge of market trends, market/ customers needs, segmentation and competitors

  • Build and support the execution of a robust value proposition and positioning with Marketing and Business intelligence

  • Support the External Embellishments Product Line Director with the implementation of short term innovations for different solutions

  • Define and drive product plans and product roadmaps including preparing and presenting business plans, differentiation, value proposition, and strategy to Key Stakeholders.

  • Monitor the product profitability and create/present Product Life Cycle Decision reviews to be able to take proactive actions upon these reviews (i.e. initiate and implement action plans for upgrades of product/cost savings)

  • Provide support to the External Embellishment Market Development Team

  • Support all aspects of the new product launch process and commercialization

  • Focus on driving sustainability throughout projects and solutions

  • Partner with global procurement to help source in region suppliers for raw materials and products.

  • Validate back-end support is in place and readily available for the solution, including capacity planning, raw material readiness, and alignment of resources.


What we expect from you! - Your Expertise:

  • Structured understanding of apparel trim platforms and associated evolving technologies

  • Vast knowledge of the USA and European Team Sports landscape.

  • Externally researches the market to determine trends, market prices and competitor products

  • Proven track record in defining, launching, evolving and sustaining products

  • Accelerate innovation through clear and prioritized innovation roadmaps

  • Effectively commercialize solutions, including ensuring that our full organization is prepared to support new solutions as they “go live”

  • Define roadmaps to reduce the carbon intensity of our solutions (Scope 1, 2 and 3)

  • Technically conversant with working knowledge of the application of the technology and product within Heat Transfer solutions

  • Customer and market focussed with experience in eliciting customer requirements and matching them to current or evolving technological solutions

  • Understand the levers needed to maximise the performance of a customer proposition at each stage of its lifecycle

  • Strong influencing skills, public speaking skills and ability to champion products both cross functionally and vertically within the organization as well as the ability to establish global partnerships internally and externally

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent)

  • Work experience in the Apparel manufacturing, materials or trim management field is strongly preferred

  • Understanding of the competitive landscape of external embellishment solutions within the apparel industry

  • Ability to identify the decision makers within the client base

  • Having an eye for detail and working meticulously

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

  • Work experience in a global organization

  • Willingness to travel globally for about 20% of the time
